Tesla Inc.’s registrations plummeted in Germany last month as Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk irked voters taking part in the country’s closely contested federal election.

February numbers show the U.S. electric-car maker is struggling to attract buyers in the region. Mr. Musk’s politics aren’t helping.

Tesla is also facing challenges in China. Preliminary data from China’s Passenger Car Association reveals that in February, Tesla manufactured and sold 30,688 vehicles last month. This figure includes examples sold in China and exported to overseas markets, and it’s also a huge 49.16% decline from the 60,365 built and sold cars in February 2024.
