Everything Kyoto - Reddit
I have been to famous spots like Fushimi Inari, Kiyomizu-dera, Kyoto station, Nishiki market, horseracing etc. So I’m looking for hidden gems in Kyoto. Preferably related to Japanese culture (I mean not like shopping centres). Events will also be good, but I searched in calendars and there’s no event in Kyoto. Thank you so much!
Where would you go in Kyoto if you only had about 2 days there?
Go early morning to Fushimi Inari, climb the mountain and go down the other side, stop at the shop selling amasake and just chill out. Then to one other shrine (shoren in, chionin or one of the less famous ones) just to complete the kyoto experience. Then to Kyoto downtown, Takashimaya area, it is massively different from Tokyo.

2018年10月15日 · Kyoto is a little further inland, and most Shinkansen from Tokyo pass through Osaka, as any train from KIX will pass through there on its way to Kyoto. My opinion in japan is always to stay in a place where you have a hub, that is to say, a station that serves MANY other stations using a JR rail pass.

IMO, Kyoto has several impressive cultural must dos. Osaka has awesome food / shopping / entertainment. Osaka is also a great hub for other day trips. If we're talking about 2-3 days total, id stay in Kyoto and maybe do a half day in Osaka. Logic is that the highest priority stuff is all in Kyoto and you really only have time for those top items.

2023年4月7日 · I would suggest the Cross Hotel Kyoto (different location than the Sakura Cross Hotel suggested in another comment.) It was super close to Pontocho Alley and Kiyamachi-dori. We easily walked to Gion several times. The Sanyo train station is a 5 minute walk, and it was fairly easy getting to/from Kyoto station.
