It is energetically favorable for a free neutron to decay into a (proton, electron, anti-neutrino) but not possible for a free proton to decay into a (neutron, positron, neutrino). A proton does not have more mass than a neutron and a positron (which, as you point out, is the same as the mass of an electron). The laws of arithmetic still hold. For similar reasons, I would expect there not to be much difference between the contribution of the neutrons and that of the protons.
