Here’s the good news: you can manage this expectation on the front end. Parents don’t know how child & adolescent therapy works unless we educate them. It makes sense for parents to want to see “results.” It’s part of our job in the initial consultation or 1st appointment to teach. This increases retention, decreases stressful “why isn’t my kid better yet?” conversations, & is a fantastic way to filter good fit clients from bad. Better to know early on & refer elsewhere than spend a few sessions
