This M-50 started life as a Sherman M4A4 during World War 2. It was then repurposed for the Israeli Defence Force with a new gun and redesigned as an M-50. Its unusual BLOO paint scheme was designed to blend in with the blue sky when high on a ridge line when it served with the Southern Lebanese Army during the 1980's. The M4 Sherman’s 75mm gun struggled against the heavily armoured German tanks like the Tiger and Panther. In 1943, two British officers had the idea of installing a British 17pdr Anti-Tank gun into the turret of a Sherman. The result was a tank that could effectively knock out those heavy German tanks.
