This mosaic is one of the projects that features in my new book ‘Mosaics Inspired by Nature’. The design is inspired by the patterns created by lichen growing on rocks. The mosaic is made with smalti, hand made filati, slate and shale, all set into a bed of pigmented tile adhesive. This mosaic is number 70 in my 100 days project. It’s inspired by the patterns of moss growing on tree bark. I still have quite a few more mosaics to make as part of this project if I’m going to reach 100 before my exhibition opens at the end of September. Ive got a busy few weeks ahead! But even if I stopped here I think 70 of these little mosaics would make a good display! I’ll keep making them for now though and see where I get to!
